Pia Barile was born in 1966 in Torino, Italy. Already since very young age, she has been creating jewellery and objects. after studying art and working as a social worker with kids and adults with a psychic handicap in projects involving art, she has moved to the Netherlands, in 2001. In Amsterdam, where she at the moment lives with her husband Erik, their son Pascal and the old house cat Matteo, she has found her first label, El Topo jewels, in 2004. Pia has been actively creating and exposing and giving classes since then.

In 2008 Pia realized that jewellery wasn't any longer her only occupation, and that her interests had grown. Ceramic and recycling of old textiles found an important place next to the jewellery in her production, and Pia Barile accessories took the place of El Topo.

A few expositions and events have take place since 2005, showing Pia's one of a kind creations.

March 2009: Illuseum

November 2004 - March 2005:  El Topo one of a kind jewellery exposed at Vier de wereld Winkel in Amsterdam.

January 30th,2005: Open day at the atelier, with To Work Well and massagepraktijk Admiralengracht. Raising funds for the victims of the Tsunami.

September 2005: Coco and pearls fashion show at Strand West, Amsterdam.

November 2005: Wintermutsen, Strand West.

May 2006: Baba Jaga. Open day at the atelier.

June - July 2006: Andokides windows, with Nelli Dvorko.

December 2006: December lounge, various artists, at the Royal Gallery, Amsterdam.

September 2007 - Jannuary 2008: Galerie Axel, Leusden.

March 2008 - May 2008: De Venser, Amsterdam.
